Introduction

annekemp“By joining BuildingSMART UK & Ireland you can access the best independent knowledge on open BIM locally and globally’ influencing it’s future development”

Anne Kemp – Chair, buildingSMART UKI

Who are we?

buildingSMART is an international alliance of businesses and organizations whose aim is to improve the efficient delivery of built assets. Central to our activities is the development of open data sharing standards (open BIM) that are essential if the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction, and Operations (AECO) industry is to optimise the available tools and solutions at their disposal to efficiently deliver built assets.

buildingSMART UKI is the local organisation – or Chapter – that organizes the communications and inputs, for and from member organizations based in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

What do we do?

buildingSMART creates the core technical functionality – i.e. the operating system – for open digital information flows throughout the life cycle of the built asset.

How do we do it?

By working with governments, allied bodies and our members nationally and internationally for over 15 years, we write and produce standards and guidance tools based on the outputs of numerous working groups and projects assembled for this purpose.

Why should you get involved?

If you are active in the AECO industry, buildingSMART membership gives you the opportunity to get involved in the process, contribute your expertise, influence what we deliver and how we deliver it.

Join our growing open BIM community and get access to the best independent knowledge that will give your business the competitive edge.

By joining bSUKI, members become part of a community of organisations that are implementing collaborative and interoperable working practices and are stating that they support and are pushing towards open standard implementation in their respective practices. Our activities cover all stages and functions of the construction cycle. We work together to creatively counter the silo mentality that is the industry’s most significant obstacle.
